A Few Interesting Ideas on Great Gatsby Possible Essay Topics

A Few Interesting Ideas on Great Gatsby Possible Essay TopicsGreat Gatsby is one of the most iconic American novel ever written, but does it lend itself to an essay? Well, firstly it's well written and contains a lot of excellent information that will be of interest to both readers and essay writers. However, the novel is full of political and historical statements which make it a very difficult piece of writing to attempt to analyse and discuss in a conventional fashion. In this article I'll look at some interesting and fun topics which can be used to illustrate various points of view within the book and in order to do so I've taken a brief look at some of the more popular US and British historical periods. These are in no particular order:The American Revolution has long been used by historians as an example of failed leadership and social unrest, but they still use it today. The situation of the Colonies were very different from those in modern day America, and the revolution was d oomed to failure before it even started. There are three periods when the Patriots first formed, and their early days have always been treated as the good bit of American history. The beginning of the American life span was marked by squabbling between the Royalists and Catholics, and divided loyalties from within the colonies. The Wars of Independence were fought by the patriots to try and secure their independence from a terrible and alien power, and the only way to do this was to try and grab the British Crown's attention, rather than simply wait for England to notice the colonies. The period of the War of Independence was arguably the darkest and bloodiest period in the history of America. The United States army suffered enormous casualties and lost dearly in this struggle, but as it was, the US was still able to emerge triumphant. The US didn't just fight against its enemies, but also against those in the government which had encouraged its enemies.Even though this is another big period in US history, it isn't as popular as the other parts of the story, and its place in literature isn't quite as high. A war which caused the continent to lose tens of thousands of men and force millions of people into exile has been widely accepted as a tragedy, and there are still significant parallels to the present day situation.George Simpson's Gatsby is full of beautiful and vivid descriptions of rich and luxurious lives. He travels throughout Europe and the US during the period and comes back with a wealth of knowledge and wisdom, which makes it all the more difficult to look at his time in America and the way he lives now. From this, I've shown how the main characters of the novel, Gatsby and Daisy, reflect current events within the United States. Whatever political ideas and events the novel might bring up, there are plenty of things that it can show us about the society in which the novel takes place.
